The type of the main solvent in the ink binder has a great influence on the screen printing process or application characteristics, so the ink is often divided into two major categories, water-based and solvent-based.
1 water-based ink. Consists of water-soluble (dilutable) resins, colorants, water, and additives. Since the 1980s, international efforts have been devoted to the research. The water-based ink is divided into a water-soluble ink and an aqueous emulsion ink according to the phase state of the resin in the binder. a. Water-based ink composition. Water-based inks, like solvent-based inks, can be divided into volatile drying, oxidative polymerization, two-liquid reaction, and heat-curing inks. This book will introduce volatile drying inks. Most of the water-based inks used today are alkali-soluble resins that can be dissolved in aqueous ammonia or amines to make water-based binders.
