Prof. Hu Wenrong from Shandong University explained that due to the pollution of the Yellow River in recent years, the degree of eutrophication has been increasing. Especially in the spring and autumn season, the light is sufficient and the climate is appropriate, resulting in a large number of algae in the reservoir. Algae entering the tap water treatment system not only causes filter clogging or penetrating the filter bed, but also easily leads to taste, smell, and color of tap water, which seriously affects the quality of tap water.
Removal of algae by conventional tap water treatment methods such as microfiltration, air flotation, contact filtration, and addition of oxidants is not ideal in practical applications. For example, although chlorine can effectively kill algae and remove algae, pre-chlorination can lead to the formation of a large number of harmful byproducts of carcinogenic halogenated hydrocarbons, and is therefore restricted to use.
Today, a technology called “Algae Removal and New Bioactive Filter Processing Technology” has changed all this. This technology won the first prize of Shandong Provincial Science and Technology Progress Award in 2002. After demonstration use in the Sanqu Water Treatment Plant in Wudi County, it was determined by the Shandong Provincial Analysis and Testing Center and the Provincial Epidemic Prevention Station that the quality of the effluent was in line with the national drinking water standards.
Professor Gao Tingyao, director of the National Urban Pollution Control Engineering Research Center and former president of Tongji University, said that he had engaged in water treatment for a lifetime and was deeply impressed by the importance of water safety control. He believes that the technology has two major innovations: First, the use of strong ozone oxidation to kill algae, a new type of biological active filter material, the two technologies together, to achieve the removal of surface water algae, organic matter, ammonia, etc., Ensure drinking water safety. In the past, it was difficult to promote algae-killing in the practice of ozone. However, due to the localization of ozone generators, the stability and price are all suitable, and it is possible to promote the technology in large areas.
Another big advantage of this technology is its low cost. For a water plant with a daily treatment capacity of 10,000 tons, an investment of more than 700,000 yuan will be needed to increase the operating cost of 0.065 yuan per ton of water, which is more economical.
A few days ago, the Shandong Science and Technology Department, the Provincial Environmental Protection Bureau, and the Provincial Water Resources Department jointly held the “Popularization of the People's Yellow River Basin Drinking Water Improvement Technical Achievements” in Wudi County. Heze, Liaocheng, Dezhou, Jinan, Binzhou and Dongying along the Yellow River Basin in Shandong Province The relevant departments of the city and all counties sent people to participate.
At present, there are tens of millions of people along the Yellow River basin in Shandong Province drinking water from the Yellow River. Therefore, the promotion value of this technology is self-evident.
