Washing method of wearing clothes and also relying on maintenance of the jacket

The most important thing to remember about your jacket is to avoid washing it in a washing machine. Instead, Hand Wash it using water at around 40°C (not hot), as the strong agitation of a washing machine can cause the waterproof membrane to separate from the base fabric, which will significantly damage its waterproof performance. Since jackets are often worn for long periods, it's better to take the time to wash them by hand to maintain their quality and durability. First, pre-soak the garment thoroughly. Then, use a sponge or soft cloth with a small amount of neutral detergent—such as mild shampoo or regular laundry soap—to gently wipe the surface. Avoid using bleach, fabric softeners, or any harsh chemicals. Rinse the garment thoroughly under running water until all the suds are gone. Next, focus on spot cleaning. Be mindful of avoiding grease and tough stains while wearing the jacket, as this reduces the need for frequent washing and prevents unnecessary wear on the waterproof coating. If a specific area gets stained, treat it locally to prevent the stain from spreading. A universal foam cleaner works well for this. Shake the bottle well before use, then spray the foam evenly onto the stained area from about 20 cm away. Let it sit for 30 to 50 seconds, then gently blot the stain with a clean cloth. For more effective cleaning, consider using a professional clothing cleaner designed for waterproof and breathable fabrics. Soak the garment completely, then add 100 ml of the cleaner (enough for two garments) and let it soak for about 10 minutes. Use a sponge or cloth to gently scrub the fabric. For stubborn spots, apply a small amount of the solution directly to the stain and rub gently. To maintain the jacket’s water-repellent properties, use a washing-type waterproofing agent. After washing, place the damp garment into clean water (no need to dry first), and add 50 ml of the waterproofing agent (suitable for two garments). Let it soak for 20 minutes, then rinse thoroughly with cold water until the water runs clear. Finally, when drying, avoid wringing the jacket out forcefully. Instead, hang it in a well-ventilated area and spread it flat to air dry. Never expose it to direct sunlight or use a dryer, as this can damage the fabric and waterproof layer. Taking proper care of your jacket ensures it remains functional and comfortable for years to come.
