The project, conceived by renowned architect Michele De Lucchi, is coming to life and making a strong impression at the upcoming Milan International Furniture Fair—especially within the office space. This innovative concept reflects the evolving nature of modern work environments, where adaptability and creativity are essential.
In today’s fast-paced world, offices are constantly changing due to social, economic, and cultural shifts. The workplace has transformed into a fluid landscape, constantly in motion. It's no longer just about where you sit—it's about how you interact, collaborate, and innovate. This transformation inspired the installation called *‘The Walk’*, symbolizing the importance of continuous movement and progress. Even in an office setting, staying in motion is more valuable than standing still.
The internal and external environment plays a crucial role in shaping how an office functions. Surprisingly, areas like the reception or kitchen can be just as important as the actual workspace. A cozy meeting room, a green space, or a welcoming entrance can enhance the overall experience more than the desk itself. These elements create a more human-centered, dynamic work environment.
The installation is divided into four thematic zones: Club, Office Space, Agorà , and Laboratory. Each area reflects a different aspect of modern work culture and emphasizes flexibility, creativity, and interaction.
**Club**
This area includes a waiting lounge, meeting room, dining space, and kitchen. Everything is designed to optimize workflow while allowing for casual interactions, such as grabbing a coffee or snack at any time. The meeting room can host small discussions or larger group meetings, offering a space where ideas can flow freely. The lounge has evolved from old, dusty spaces into open, inviting areas that encourage relaxation and informal conversations, breaking away from traditional office setups with no desks and no pressure to be present.
**Office Space**
A truly inspiring workspace should foster idea exchange, collaboration, and individual focus. The design encourages both teamwork and independent work, creating an environment that supports creativity and productivity. The atmosphere is key—encouraging innovation and enhancing group dynamics.
**Agorà **
This is a flexible space designed for meetings, presentations, screenings, and exhibitions. It serves as a central hub for communication and engagement, reinforcing the idea of a collaborative and open office culture.
**Laboratory**
Here, creativity takes shape through prototyping, 3D printing, and digital tools. It's a space for experimentation and hands-on work, supporting the development of new ideas and concepts.
Surrounding the workspace are lush green areas, including gardens, greenhouses, aviaries, and fish tanks. These natural elements provide a refreshing backdrop and offer various settings for working, relaxing, or simply taking a break.
Art is also integrated into the space, becoming part of the overall experience. It adds a personal touch and enhances the aesthetic and emotional value of the environment.
*‘The Walk’* is more than just an installation—it's a vision of the future of the workplace, one that values movement, creativity, and connection. Designed by Michele De Lucchi, it will be a highlight at the Salone del Mobile and a powerful statement on how offices can evolve to meet the needs of tomorrow.
