A childhood that can't go back! Relive our past time with our children as parents!

**Editor's Note** In our childhood memories, how do we share them with our kids? Renting books and dishes, writing letters to distant pen pals, practicing calligraphy, and feeling sad about missing a favorite TV show—these are things that today’s children may never experience. As summer comes to an end, our parents are revisiting the past, showing the younger generation that we adults also had a childhood! Back in the day, we used to rent VHS tapes from local stores. Today, kids can stream whatever they want on IPTV. We didn’t wear helmets when we rode bikes, but now kids are taught to be safe, wearing helmets and avoiding risky moves. We used to worry about missing our favorite shows, but now kids can order any program online whenever they want. We practiced hard on calligraphy, while today’s kids often start typing on keyboards early. We used to record love songs for someone special, while now kids just create playlists with a few taps. We relied on encyclopedias for research, but now Wikipedia is more accessible and widely used. Typewriters were common, and now keyboards have taken over, though the skills are somewhat similar. We dialed rotary phones, and today, who even remembers what a non-touchscreen phone looks like? We used paper maps when traveling, but now GPS and Google Maps have made them almost obsolete. We once drank water from public fountains, not knowing the dangers of lead or BPA. We used answer sheets and 2B pencils, but many schools are now moving toward digital testing. We played marbles, but this game is nearly forgotten. We took photos with film cameras, and now many kids don’t even know what photo printing is. We called friends on landlines, but now kids prefer sending photos via WeChat. We roamed the streets in groups, but today, kids are closely watched by their parents. We wrote letters to pen pals, licking stamps and waiting eagerly for the next one. Now, kids might not even understand the idea of sending a physical letter. **Source: Woman’s Day**
