It is understood that in the second quarter of Tianjin, 242 batches of products were sampled and 236 batches were qualified, with a pass rate of 97.52%. Six kinds of furniture produced by six companies including Tianjin Ruidong Weiye Furniture Co., Ltd. were notified due to unqualified inspection items of formaldehyde emission or drawer durability.
The Anhui Provincial Quality Supervision Bureau also recently reported the results of the provincial-level supervision and inspection of the quality of wooden furniture products in the second quarter. It is reported that the Anhui Provincial Quality Supervision Bureau has conducted a random inspection of 40 sets of samples such as wooden cabinets, dining chairs and wooden coffee tables, of which 12 were unqualified, and the sampling pass rate was 70%. From the results, 42% were due to unsatisfactory detection of formaldehyde emission.
Also in the near-term release of the second quarter of the furniture product quality supervision and spot check results are also the Shaanxi Provincial Bureau of Quality and Technical Supervision. The bureau has extracted 95 batches of 95 production and distribution companies. After testing, 76 batches of qualified samples, the physical quality pass rate is 80%. The main problems are the amount of formaldehyde released, the requirements for metal parts, and the strength of the drawer slides.
According to China's testing standards for formaldehyde content of furniture, the amount of formaldehyde released should not exceed 1.5mg/L. In the local testing, the maximum formaldehyde exceeded the standard by 5 times. Obviously, the excessive release of formaldehyde is still the most important factor in the unqualified testing of furniture products. Industry insiders told reporters that the main reason for the unqualified amount of formaldehyde emission is that some enterprises use inferior man-made boards, unreasonable formulas for reducing costs, or use waste building templates in raw materials to cause excessive formaldehyde in boards and furniture.
