Book publishing is easier with inkjet technology

Inkjet printing technology is often associated with invoices, bills, and direct mail. But in a recent webinar titled *"Inkjet: Implications for Book Printing Manufacturers and Publishers,"* Barbra Pellow and Jim Hamilton from the Winship Group expanded the conversation to include book printing. They highlighted that book printing now makes up around 20% of the inkjet market and is growing fast. Trends like first-mode publishing, just-in-time manufacturing, and on-demand printing are becoming more popular than ever. Hamilton even pointed out that as electronic communication rose, the definition of what constitutes a "book" has evolved. It's no longer just physical pages — it now includes digital, interactive, and personalized content that can be delivered through various channels. Despite the rise of digital media, printed books remain a powerful form of communication. A recent Pew Research study found that 70% of adults still read printed books, while only 4% prefer e-books exclusively. This shows that print isn't going away anytime soon, and it continues to be a major revenue source for publishers. For both printers and publishers, digital printing offers a more efficient transition from traditional offset methods. Digital presses act like virtual warehouses, allowing products to be produced instantly within an established workflow. With inkjet technology, this process is not only fast but also cost-effective, making high-quality print more accessible than ever before.
