For this particular apartment, Nate Berkus transformed the living room into a cozy sanctuary. Its breathtaking view of the city is beautifully integrated into the seamless transition between the indoor and outdoor spaces, thanks to the thoughtful arrangement of furniture and clever storage solutions inspired by the design of a ship's cabin. This "magic" of design resulted in a timeless fusion of different periods and styles across the furnishings and finishes.

Chicago Townhouse

Nate Berkus Associates' Design Director Lauren Gordon renovated her 1883 Georgian townhouse in Chicago's Gold Coast neighborhood to preserve its original architectural charm while incorporating the antiques she'd collected over the years. As Lauren shared, "It was such a cathartic experience to finally bring everything I had always envisioned to life, and it really helped me understand what truly resonates with my aesthetic sensibility." The Carrara marble-topped island, paired with the sleek black cabinets featuring brass pulls, makes this kitchen both functional and visually stunning.

Hancock Park Estate

The design concept for this project highlights that sometimes, monochromatic palettes can be just as impactful as bold colors. Each piece comes from a different era or style, yet when covered in white tones, they blend harmoniously. Nate Berkus Associates "opened up" the house to create a more spacious layout and invited sunlight in by replacing nearly all the doors and windows with iron and glass.
