In 2013, the director of the school's education and technology office visited Singapore as part of a training group organized by the Jiangsu Provincial Department of Education. Before the trip, the principal emphasized the importance of observing Singapore’s campus culture, facilities, and management systems. Upon arrival, the team was impressed by how sports equipment was strategically placed on every floor of the buildings, allowing students to move and exercise freely at any time. This inspired the school to rethink its approach to integrating fitness into daily life. Inspired by this experience, the school began implementing a series of changes. They focused on selecting appropriate small fitness equipment, determining ideal installation locations, considering student height, and ensuring safety. A special meeting was held with the physical education teaching group to develop an action plan called “Sports Activities Around.” The school also assigned responsible personnel to conduct regular equipment inspections, ensuring that every stage—from class time to after-school activities—was monitored. Periodic displays of results were used to motivate students and encourage consistent participation. Each piece of equipment now comes with clear usage instructions. Physical education teachers use class time to teach students the correct techniques for using the equipment, making the activities more scientific and professional. This not only enhances the quality of the exercises but also increases student interest and enthusiasm. As a result, students started exercising intentionally or unintentionally in various places: 1. Push-up bars are installed near the pool. Students often use them when they go to wash up. 2. High jump equipment is placed in wide corridors, where students naturally jump when passing by. 3. Pull-up bars are installed on each floor, and students gather there during class breaks. 4. Standing long jump mats are located near student entrances, becoming popular spots during rainy days. 5. Balance beams and monkey bars are set up in front of classrooms, encouraging students to walk across them. 6. Sit-up mats and climbing walls are placed in the sports field, where students relax and compete during lunchtime. Since installing the equipment, several unexpected benefits emerged: - Bathroom signs that once hung in the hallways are now used for high jumps, and the signs no longer fall. - Students stopped using door frames for pull-ups after the proper equipment was installed. - Many students who previously avoided sports now enjoy being active, shifting from "I have to exercise" to "I want to exercise." Today, the school's "Sunshine Movement One Hour" has taken on a new meaning. Loving sports, participating in physical activity, and promoting an active lifestyle have become a trend among students. They run, jump, and move around the campus, bringing energy and vitality to the whole environment.
