Using crack observation, metallographic inspection, chemical analysis, hardness inspection and other methods to analyze the cause of cracking in Cr12MoV mold online cutting. The results show that the residual stress in the material caused by the heat treatment is large, the residual stress is redistributed during wire cutting, and the tensile stress exceeding the tensile strength limit of the material at the local edge of the wire cutting of the mold is the main reason for the cracking of the abrasive tool. The eutectic carbide seriously exceeds the standard, which is another reason for the cracking of the abrasive material. Suggestions were made to improve the life of the mold.
